I am a junior Nutrition & Wellness major at the University of New Hampshire. During my studies over the past few years, I have developed a passion for promoting healthy eating and living a healthy lifestyle.
I have worked with the UNH dietitian, Rochelle L’Italien M.S., R.D., L.D., to make some of my ideas come to life on the UNH campus. Currently, I am working on a project called “Creative Eating” which is an approach to making interesting, delicious, and smart choices in the dining halls (or at home).
I have made nutrition information available in brochure form and have been presenting my project in all of the dining halls, in classes, and at campus fairs. I created take-away cards that are available for those interested in my creative recipe ideas.
There are five basic guidelines that I believe are simple to keep in mind when trying to make smart choices:
1. Monitoring Portion Sizes
2. Eating a Variety of Foods
3. Eating Less Energy Dense Foods
4. Eating More Nutrient Dense Foods
5. Thinking Creatively!
I am using this blog to further express my ideas, explore related topics, and to make information readily available to those interested in Creative Eating.
