Supermarkets can often be overwhelming.  What are the best choices to make?  What foods should I avoid?  What if I don’t have the time to read all the nutrition labels?

Hannaford Supermarkets has recently added a nutrition rating system called “Guiding Stars.”  This navigation system has been implemented to make the shopper’s life easier — nutritious choices have the most stars while the least nutritious choices have less or zero stars.

You can call your local Hannaford store to schedule a supermarket tour in order to get friendly with this system and to explore foods you may have overlooked before.

If you are a student at UNH, we have also rated most of the food in the dining halls with the “Guiding Stars” system.  Take a look at the signs before you make a food choice next time you’re in the dining hall — it may just help you on your track to making healthy and creative decisions!
